今回はN.Y.ブルックスのファンク・バンドB.T. Expressの大ヒット・デビュー・アルバム『Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)』（1974年）です。

ブルックリン出身のファンク・バンドB.T. Expressの紹介は、『1980』（1980年）に続き2回目となります。

『1980』の記事投稿が2006年。その記事の最後に本作『Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)』も近々紹介します！なんて書いてありますが、本作を紹介するのに、13年も要してしまいました。

CDが手元にあり、記事にしたい！と思いながら、13年もかかってしまった要因として、本作がサンプリング・ソースの宝庫であるという点があります。そのため記事作成の手間をイメージし、ついつい後回しになってしまっていたという事情があります。まぁ、単なる言い訳ですが・・・

人気曲「Have Some Fun」収録の『1980』がディスコ作品であったのに対して、デビュー・アルバムとなる本作『Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)』（1974年）は、格好良いストリート・ファンクが詰まったデビュー・アルバムに仕上がっています。

アルバムからは「Do It ('Til You're Satified)」（USチャート第2位、同R&Bチャート第1位）、「Express」（USチャート第4位、同R&Bチャート第1位）という2曲の大ヒット・シングルが生まれ、アルバムもUSチャート第5位、US R&Bチャート第1位の大ヒットとなりました。

本作におけるメンバーはLouis Risbrook（b、key、vo）、Bill Risbrook（sax、fl）、Dennis Rowe（per）、Richard Thompson（g、vo）、Carlos Ward（sax、fl）、Terrell Wood（ds）、Barbara Joyce（lead vo）。

アルバム全編ストリート・ファンクが貫かれています。バラードは一切挟まずファンク一本で貫く潔さも好感持てます。

「Do It ('Til You're Satified)」、「Express」という2大ヒット曲がハイライトですが、「If It Don't Turn You On (You Oughta Leave It Alone)」、「Once You Get It」、「Everything Good To You (Ain't Always Good For You)」、「Do You Like It」あたりもおススメです。

ここで挙げた6曲は全てサンプリング・ソースとしても人気なので、そういった点からチャックするのも楽しいのでは？
