今回は元祖フュージョン・ファンク・バンドWarの大ヒット・アルバム『The World Is A Ghetto』（1972年）です。

USアルバム・チャート第16位、US R&Bアルバム・チャート第6位となった前作『All Day Music』（1971年）で自信をつけたグループが自分たちの音楽スタイルを確立し、人気グループとしての地位を確立した1枚といえます。
本作のメンバーはHoward Scott（g、per、vo）、B.B. Dickerson（b、per、vo）、Lonnie Jordan（org、p、timbales、per、vo）、Harold Brown（ds、per、vo）、Papa Dee Allen（congas、bongos、per、vo）、Charles Miller（cla、as、ts、bs、per、vo）、Lee Oskar（hca、per、vo）というお馴染みの7名。
プロデュースはJerry Goldstein、Lonnie Jordan、Howard Scott。
「The Cisco Kid」（USチャート第2位、同R&Bチャート第5位）、「The World Is a Ghetto」（USチャート第7位、同R&Bチャート第3位）という2曲のヒット・シングルがハイライトですね。これら2曲はカヴァー曲、サンプリング・ソースとしても人気です。
